From 2017, in a few short, but challenging drought affected years we built the foundation of our stud herd with a range of fertile, feminine and robust cows and heifers who are true in type to the Droughtmaster breed. Foundation genetics were sourced from dispersals, on property and Society sales.
We put together a base herd of cows and heifers who are medium to large in frame, textbook udders with plenty of milk, naturally good temprament and broad range of genetics.
We made swift and measured decisions to quickly cull any that didn't work out and have tried to be stricter on them every year. The breeding program is gaining some momentum now and clients can rest assured that they are buying from lines that perform.
High Country Genesis was our first Stud sire, followed by High Country Hadley. They have built us a consistent line of Grey Gum females to compliment those we started with and take take our program forward.
